Francis Bacon: The Scientific Method and God’s Creation

Francis Bacon lived in the 16th and 17th centuries, and made many contributions to Western thought in the fields of law, natural philosophy, and perhaps most notably in science.  He is often credited with development of the scientific method, which many of you still employ today when you conduct your science labs with Mr. Hoenig: By making observations, forming a hypothesis, conducting an experiment, and then analyzing the data to draw a conclusion about whether your hypothesis was right.

While many people today take science and faith in God to be somehow opposed to one another, Francis Bacon knew the truth to be otherwise.  He once said, “[a] little science estranges men from God, but much science leads them back to Him.”

As you learn more every day about the structure and makeup of our world, think about how your knowledge of science in the end points to your knowledge of its Creator.

Have a wonderful first day back.
