Faith is to trust and obey…right away

Faith may be like a pair of glasses, but it requires more than just putting them on.  Abraham is regarded by many as the father of Faith.  Genesis says:

12 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your countryand your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.”

* * *

So Abram went, as the Lord had told him…”

In other words, God made a promise (“I will bless you”); and He gave an instruction, “leave, and go somewhere – I’ll show you where later.”  And what was Abraham’s response?  It was simple: “So [he] went.”

It is one thing to believe God.  It is another thing to obey Him.  Faith requires both.  If God told you to just “go,” would you?  I know I would be tempted to ask Him for details first?  Or at least ask Him to tell me where I was going.  But Abraham was leaving for good, and he just “went,” because God said so.

If we desire to have true Faith—not just say we believe God, but actually possess the virtue of Faith—we must believe and act.  We must trust and obey…and we must do it right away.

Have a wonderful day.
