Yesterday I supposed that to be a just person one must first be honest with themselves and others. Today I’ll add on to it with humility. In a culture that tells you – you are the center of it, humility can be hard to come by and even seen as a weakness. Afterall – you are all valuable and your intrinsic worth never diminishes. This juxtaposed by the mere suggestion that we be humble can be confusing. If we are all so valuable, why must we care about others? Justice. Humility is the right view of your importance (not value) and is not weakness – rather humility it is the lack of arrogance, it is refusing to give way to overweening pride and ambition – it is humility that allows you to know your value and see that same value in others. Micah 6:8 says – He has shown you, oh man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
