Time enough for “little toils of love”

J.R.R. Tolkien said: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Emily Dickinson gives an answer:

I had no time to hate, because
The grave would hinder me,
And life was not so ample I
Could finish enmity.

Nor had I time to love; but since
Some industry must be,
The little toil of love, I thought,
Was large enough for me.

In a world where there seems to be never enough hours or days to finish anything, it is a good reminder—you and I always have enough time for “little toils of love.”  And that’s a fine way to spend the time that is given us, don’t you think?

And now, for the Friday Funnies:

Tom, a huge baseball fan, was at the hospital visiting with his best friend Larry who was dying. Tom asked, “Larry, if there is baseball in heaven will you come back and tell me?” Larry nodded yes just as he passed away. That night while Tom was sleeping, he heard Larry’s voice in a dream, “Tom…” “Larry! What is it?!” asked Tom. “I have good news and bad news from heaven.” “What’s the good news?” “There is baseball in heaven after all.”  “And the bad news?” “You’re pitching on Tuesday.”

Have a wonderful day.
